In this guide, we'll cover how to clean your jewelry & tips to help them last longer because we all love our pieces and would love to keep them shiny for longer.

Ensure you polish your jewellery every few months. Be gentle!

Remember your jewellery is susceptible to damage from the effects of perfume, hairspray, make-up, nail polish remover, body oils, suntan lotion and deodorant.

Cleaning your jewelry

  • We recommend either using a microfiber cloth or a specialist jewellery-cleaning one.
  • Do not use any other products or chemicals. They are NOT recommended for gold-plated jewellery.
  • Carefully clean with a soft cloth and warm soapy water (including silver pieces).
  • Finally, pat dry with a soft cloth to remove all excess moisture.
  • To deep clean your jewellery you need a specialist jewellery cloth that has not been chemically treated. Alternatively, you can use a good quality microfibre cloth.

Daily preventive care for your jewelry

  • Don't apply harsh chemicals directly on the pieces (e.g. sunscreen, chlorine, hand sanitizer, fake tan, deodorant/body spray, nail polish removers, body lotions, perfume and hairspray).
  • If you are applying everything mentioned above to your body, wait until it settles, before putting on your jewellery. And don’t forget to remove your jewellery if you’re reapplying throughout the day.
  • If you can, remove your jewelry every time you wash or sanitise your hands, exercise and shower.
  • Don't leave your jewelry in a bathroom for a long time.

Safely store your jewelry

  • When you are not wearing your pieces, store them in a clean dry place, such as a jewelry box or a fabric-lined case.
  • If possible, keep your jewellery in an airtight container, out of direct sunlight to prevent fading or oxidisation.
  • Avoid storing the same metals together as mixing silver and gold-plated jewellery for too long can result in tarnishing.
  • Store your pieces separately, it will avoid pieces knocking together.

We hope these tips help you take better care of your jewelry collection in the long run. If you accidentally do these a few times, not to worry! Your pieces are very durable. Ready to add a new piece of jewelry to your collection? Browse our jewelry store for unique pieces for every occasion!
